Mobile steering and suspension repairs

Norfolk roads are hard on suspension. Potholes, patched surfaces and rural lanes work springs and bushes loose long before the rest of the car is tired. Most of it we can put right on your drive.

Do we cover you?

Put your postcode in and we'll tell you straight away.

Knocking noises over bumps, a car that wanders, uneven tyre wear — most of it comes back to suspension and steering components that have worn or broken. Coil springs snap, shock absorbers lose their damping, and rubber bushes perish and let joints move where they should not.

We diagnose it on site and replace what needs replacing. The one thing we cannot do at your address is wheel alignment, which needs the equipment — if a job affects the geometry, we will tell you and point you at somewhere to get it set up afterwards.

When you need this

Any of these sound familiar?

  • Knocking or clonking over bumps and speed humps
  • The car wanders, or the steering feels vague and loose
  • It sits lower on one corner than the others
  • Tyres are wearing unevenly across the tread
  • The ride has gone bouncy, or the car keeps moving after a bump
  • A creaking or groaning noise when turning at low speed
  • It failed an MOT on suspension, ball joints or track rod ends

What the job covers

  • Replace shock absorbers and coil springs
  • Replace worn suspension bushes, drop links and anti-roll bar links
  • Replace ball joints, track rod ends and steering rack gaiters
  • Replace wheel bearings
  • Replace top mounts and strut bearings
  • Diagnose knocks and noises properly rather than replacing parts on a guess

Why have it done at home?

You don't lose a day to it. No dropping the vehicle off, no arranging a lift back, no waiting for a phone call to say it's ready. We turn up where it's parked, do the work, and you carry on with whatever you were doing.

Suspension work varies enormously between vehicles. Tell us the registration and what it is doing, and we will give you a realistic figure.

Before we arrive

This work needs the vehicle safely jacked, so firm level ground is essential. If we replace anything that affects the steering geometry we will tell you the car needs aligning afterwards.

Questions we get asked

Can you do wheel alignment at my house?

No — alignment needs fixed equipment and a level floor. If a repair changes the geometry we will tell you, so you can get it set up straight afterwards.

Do shock absorbers have to be replaced in pairs?

Yes, always across an axle. A new one on one side and a tired one on the other makes the car handle unevenly, and it will fail an MOT.

Is a knocking noise dangerous?

It depends what is knocking. A worn drop link is a nuisance; a failing ball joint is not, because if it separates you lose steering on that wheel. It is worth having it looked at rather than guessed at.
