Mobile car electrics and fault finding

Electrical faults are the ones that get expensive when they are guessed at rather than traced. Intermittent problems, flat batteries with no obvious cause, things that work when they feel like it — that is what this is for.

Do we cover you?

Put your postcode in and we'll tell you straight away.

We trace electrical faults properly: testing circuits, checking earths and looking at what the car is actually doing rather than swapping parts and hoping.

That covers alternators and starter motors, lighting, wiring damage, blown fuses, parasitic drains and the odd faults that only show up in the wet or after the car has stood.

When you need this

Any of these sound familiar?

  • The battery goes flat overnight with no obvious cause
  • Lights, wipers or windows work intermittently
  • The battery warning light is on while driving
  • A fuse keeps blowing
  • Something stopped working after the car got wet
  • Warning lights come on for no clear reason

What the job covers

  • Trace parasitic drains that flatten a good battery
  • Test and replace alternators and starter motors
  • Repair damaged wiring, connectors and corroded earth points
  • Diagnose lighting faults and replace bulbs and units
  • Find and fix intermittent faults, including water ingress

Why have it done at home?

You don't lose a day to it. No dropping the vehicle off, no arranging a lift back, no waiting for a phone call to say it's ready. We turn up where it's parked, do the work, and you carry on with whatever you were doing.

Electrical fault finding is charged for the time it takes, because the diagnosis is the work. We will tell you where we have got to as we go.

Before we arrive

Tell us exactly when the fault appears — cold mornings, after rain, only at night. That detail often saves an hour of testing.

Questions we get asked

My battery goes flat every few days. Is it the battery?

Not necessarily. It could be the battery, the alternator, or something drawing current with the car locked. All three are testable and we check all three rather than guessing.

How long does fault finding take?

Honestly, it varies. A straightforward drain might be half an hour; an intermittent fault that only appears in the wet can take longer. We keep you posted rather than running up time silently.
